I got friends. Seriously. Fatal J tossed these posters of mine around the LA area. I kind of hope Shepard sees this small cover up as a sign of war. I'd lose, but it would be fun as shit. Here are a couple more.

This one is on a blank, backlit bus stop ad wall.

Those little fatties seriously do need a helping hand. (If you are unsure on what you are looking at, or you have no idea why I posted obsure pictures of walls, go to my website and look at the posters and things might start to click.)

We had a visiting artist here right off the bat. Harmen Liemburg hails from Holland and he spends a week with the 2D department here on the ins-and-outs of screenprinting. He starts out by getting us acquainted with his work.

A nice two color poster. This is a poster he worked on with Ed Fella, who is currently teaching design at Cal Arts. He's a Cranbrook Alum, but go check out his site, its way better than me telling you.

I'm getting a bit ahead of myself so let me back up a bit. This is my dorm room. Spacious, I know. There is a cool sculpture right outside my window, which brightens my day. It was done by Michael Hall. I really like it.

Closer view of the sheet metal structure.

Then I hang the corner around the dorm and head down this street to my studio.

My studio is an old dorm room, so it comes with two closets and a sink. I probably shouldn't be bragging about it at all, I'm the only first year student that has a solo studio.

OH, right. So after Harmen shows us his prints, the school gathers in the orangish shaded auditorium for more of the Artist-in-Residency lectures. Low and behold, today is Elliott's day.

I catch a snap shot of him demonstrating how he has progressed as a performance artist. He's showing an older piece and discussing his interest in reinventing his ideas through each thing he creates. (I know I slaughtered that Elliott, but that's the best I could do right now.)

So back to the visiting artist. He gives our department a quick walkthrough to familiarize everyone with the equipment that was recently donated to us. He makes the rounds on Desk Crits. Then he pumps out 30 of these posters for us to keep.

This poster has more history than just being done at Cranbrook, though. Its also a part of this exhibit in hawaii....I think.

I've been working on this monoprint that I'm now a little disappointed in. At least I can learn from my mistake of using shitty pigment.

More to come soon, so keep your eyes peeled.

Playlist: Christian sitting next to me jamming out on iDrum/ cnet podcast / Slayer....lots and lots of Slayer.

The longest comment you'll ever get:

The first time that I did a monoprint (which, I think I have only done three) I totally fucked it up. Along with the second time and the third one I did I had help from Doug and George but it still didn’t turn out the way I saw fit in my mind. The thing about these little guys is that you put so much work into the prep job to have an outcome of one print and sometimes two if you are lucky. So don’t be so hard on yourself.

The Child Obesity ad is sick and ridiculous. It makes me think of all those time that Maurie Povich had those babies that weighed 40 lbs at the age of 3 months on that daytime talk show. Nevertheless, it is nice of you to lend a hand in the fight. Glad to see you are reaching out across the country.

That sheet metal sculpture makes me want to kick a ball around inside of and off of it. It seems way to tempting to have it on display when its true function should be for recreation.

One more thing, your studio looks like an office and you need to empty your trash.

Love, yer mom (but just for that last part the rest was from your unbelievable cool and down to earth not to mention beautiful lady friend).

that sculpture reminds of one giant golden ticket that would get you in to wonka's factory. but I agree with kristin, I'd love to play a game of tennis against it; it certainly should be used for recreation of some sort.

and good thing you've got that out your dorm room window...you've got nothing on your walls to look at!

and listen to your mom, empty your trash.

That sheet metal sculpture makes me want to trip balls around inside of and off of it. It seems way to tempting to have it on display when its true function should be for recreation.
